Kerala rains 2026: researchers call for redrawing disaster management strategy amidst increasing extreme rainfall events
Researchers at the Cochin University of Science and Technology want a new disaster management strategy for Kerala. They said, “A bottom-up, people-centred, multi-hazard early warning system is essential.” Experts noted that mesoscale mini cloudbursts are becoming frequent, causing flash floods. They urged for better local planning to protect vulnerable populations.
