Parliament clears bill to raise Supreme Court judge strength to 38

Parliament cleared the Supreme Court (Number of Judges) Amendment Bill, 2026, on Wednesday to raise the judge strength to 38. The Lok Sabha passed it on Monday. BJD MP Sasmit Patra supported the move, saying, "Today Parliament is not merely increasing the strength of the Supreme Court, it's renewing its faith."
