Why India is giving China's Doklam strategy a rail infra response

India is fast-tracking the Chalsa-Naxalbari railway line in West Bengal to secure the Doklam tri-junction and Siliguri Corridor. The government approved acquiring 380 hectares of land for this 20-km project. Sanctioned in 2011-12, this rail link will help move troops quickly, countering China’s growing military footprint along the border areas.
