A reader noted the irony of Will Lloyd’s "There is no news" sketch appearing in the October 29 Budget 2026 supplement. The writer said, "It's amazing that the amount of news that happens in the world every day always just exactly fits the newspaper." Many ads filled the remaining pages.
I love the irony of Will Lloyd's "There is no news" sketch ("Years after the Truss fiasco, an actual mini-Budget", Report, October 29) appearing on the front page of a 14-page print edition Budget 2026 FT supplement, albeit with four of those pages taken with adverts for financial advisers.
Surely John Healey's Budget only deserved the briefing sidebar. Reminiscent of the old Jerry Seinfeld quote: "It's amazing that the amount of news that happens in the world every day always just exactly fits the newspaper."
