1. Who we are
TheReader.AI is a news app that turns reporting from established publishers into short, neutral summaries you can read in about 60 seconds. It is built in Bengaluru, India, and owned and operated by Candominds Technologies. TheReader.AI was created in Candominds Labs and is led by Midhun Thomson, Founder and CEO of Candominds Technologies.
We are not a newsroom and we do not do original reporting. Our job is to help you find out what happened quickly, see who reported it, and go to the original when you want the full story.
2. How we choose sources
Our news feed draws on more than 200 publishers, including national outlets such as The Hindu, Mint, The Indian Express, Business Standard, The Economic Times, NDTV and India Today, along with international wire services and newspapers.
We prefer publishers that have an identifiable editorial team, publish corrections, and clearly separate news from opinion and advertising. We do not include content from anonymous sites, and we do not accept payment from anyone to add a source or to promote a story.
3. How summaries are made
Every summary on TheReader.AI goes through the same steps:
- We collect published articles from the sources described above.
- When several publishers report the same event, we group their reports into a single story.
- An AI model writes a short summary using only the facts reported in those articles. It is told not to add opinion, speculation or loaded language.
- Each summary is shown with the publisher it is based on, the original publication time and, where available, a link to the original article.
Headlines and summaries describe what the sources reported. When reports disagree, we aim to reflect that rather than pick a side.
4. Use of AI
Summaries, story groupings and AI search answers on TheReader.AI are generated by AI. AI can make mistakes: it can drop context, misread a number or attribute a quote incorrectly. That is why every summary credits its source, and why we encourage you to read the original report for anything important to you.
Articles on our blog are written or edited by our team, and are labelled with their author.
5. Neutrality
TheReader.AI does not take political positions and does not publish opinion as news. We do not rank stories by how much outrage or engagement they generate, and we do not use clickbait headlines.
Neutral does not mean false balance. When reporting is clear on a fact, our summary states it plainly.
6. Attribution and publishers
We always credit the publication a summary is based on. Our summaries are meant to point readers to the original journalism, not replace it.
If you are a publisher and want to change how your content appears on TheReader.AI, or want it removed, email info@thereader.ai and we will act on your request.
7. Corrections
If a summary is wrong, misleading or misattributed, tell us at info@thereader.ai or through our contact page. Please include the link to the story and what you believe is incorrect.
We review every report. If the summary is wrong, we correct it or remove it. If the error came from the original article, we update our summary once the publisher corrects its report.
8. Feedback
We read all feedback about our coverage, including concerns about bias, missing perspectives or the sources we use. Write to info@thereader.ai.
9. Ownership and funding
TheReader.AI is owned by Candominds Technologies and is self-funded. We do not show advertising and do not publish sponsored content. We earn money from optional Premium plans for readers and from our News API for businesses. Neither affects which stories we cover or how we summarise them.
