According to the company, the Roadster's design draws inspiration from the SR-71 aircraft and the F-35 fighter jet. Tesla said the vehicle is designed to deliver performance beyond its Plaid models and offer a driving experience incorporating SpaceX components. The company has not specified a price for the Roadster in its press release.
Separately, Tesla India has introduced a complimentary Acceleration Boost for the Model Y L, its six-seater SUV. The upgrade enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.5 seconds. The SUV offers a claimed driving range of up to 681 km under the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP).
Tesla Model Y, Model Y L prices in India
Tesla's Model Y is available in India at ₹50.89 lakh, with a down payment of ₹6 lakh and monthly EMIs starting at ₹39,990. The Model Y L starts at ₹61.99 lakh, with a down payment of ₹6.5 lakh and monthly EMIs starting at ₹49,990.
The company said the indicative monthly payments are based on a seven-year tenure and an 8.5% annual percentage rate under a step-up EMI plan. Actual payments may vary and are subject to financier approval.
Tesla said the Model Y and Model Y L are currently its vehicles available in India. Both models are eligible for its Refer and Earn programme, under which existing owners can earn ₹11,000 in credits for every successful referral, while new buyers can receive a discount of ₹22,000 on a new Tesla.
Tesla expands charging network in India
Tesla said it currently operates 20 Supercharger stalls and 28 Destination Charger stalls in India, with three additional sites planned by the end of 2026. The company also said it has enabled home charging for households across 23 states.
Customers can schedule test drives of the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive and the Model Y L at Tesla's experience locations in Noida, Delhi, Gurugram, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Mumbai.
Tesla said its vehicles have received safety ratings from organisations including the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in the United States, Euro NCAP in Europe, ANCAP in Australia and New Zealand, and C-IASI in China.
