Temple, Deepinder Goyal's brain-tracking wearable, is now open for pre-orders in India. Priced at Rs 85,000, the device tracks cerebral blood flow and signals linked to brain oxygenation. Here is how to book it, along with its features, colours and delivery details.
The wait is almost over for those curious about Deepinder Goyal's unusual brain-tracking wearable. Temple, the device developed under the Zomato founder's health-tech initiative, is opening pre-orders globally on November 1. For Indian customers, the booking window is scheduled to open at 9:30pm IST tonight. The device is listed at Rs 85,000, although buyers should check the final price and purchase terms before paying. So, what exactly are you getting for that money, and how does Temple work? Here is everything you need to know before placing an order.
Temple pre-order time in India and how to book
Temple's global pre-order window will open on November 1, with different timings for different regions. In India, customers can start placing orders at 9:30pm IST. Those in the US, UK, Europe and Gulf region will get access earlier, while Singapore and Australia will enter the booking window after midnight on November 2.
Interested buyers can place orders through the Temple app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, or visit the company's official website, temple.com.
To prepare an order, customers need to download the Temple app or visit its website and complete the initial setup. They can then select the wearable, add it to their cart, choose the required quantity and enter their shipping details, including their name and address. Optional information, such as GSTIN, can also be added where applicable. Once these details are filled in, customers can save their carts and complete the purchase when pre-orders open. The app allows customers to prepare their carts and shipping details in advance. Payment is scheduled for the pre-order day.
Temple price in India, delivery and refund policy
The company, through an early-access invite, said it would be priced at Rs 85,000. Earlier, Goyal confirmed that delivery would take up to three months from the purchase date. In other words, if you are going to place an order today, you will most likely receive the device next year. This is because of the company's made-to-order approach, where each device is manufactured after an order is placed. Customers can also request a refund until their device is shipped. The first batch, called Batch 01, is expected to be limited.
What is Temple and what does it do?
Unlike a smartwatch that sits on your wrist and tracks steps, heart rate and sleep, Temple focuses on signals linked to the brain. It is a small, pill-shaped wearable that attaches to the side of your head, between your forehead and ear.
Its main technology is called BrainFlow. Using optical sensors, the device tracks changes in cerebral blood flow, or the movement of blood through the brain. It also monitors signals associated with brain oxygenation and cognitive load. The idea is to help users understand how their bodies respond to stress, exercise and recovery.
Temple also offers an Entropy score ranging from 1 to 250. This score is designed to indicate physiological strain, with factors such as sleep, exercise, stress and caffeine potentially influencing the reading.
However, there is an important distinction here. Temple is designed for wellness and research purposes, not medical diagnosis. It should not be treated as a replacement for medical tests or advice.
How do you wear Temple?
Temple does not use a traditional strap. Instead, it attaches to the skin using disposable adhesive tapes called Grips. According to the information shared by Goyal on X (formerly Twitter), users can wear the device while running, swimming and showering. It is also designed to sit comfortably under glasses. Each Grip can last around seven days, although the company recommends changing it every two to three days, particularly if you sweat a lot or spend time in dusty conditions.
The company is also promising a lifetime subscription, which includes access to app features and personal onboarding with a one-on-one introduction to the device.
Temple colours and additional details
Temple will be available in six colour options: True Gold, Rose Gold, Black Mirror, Real Jade, Deep Blue and Purple Funk. Real Jade, Deep Blue and Purple Funk are limited-edition finishes.
There are a couple of other interesting details worth knowing. Goyal recently confirmed on X that users will be able to share their Temple data with doctors. He also clarified that the company's device replacement policy, which mentions a nominal fee, applies to lost devices and does not include upgrades to newer models.
