New Delhi: Meta, the US-based owner of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp announced that Ravi Garg will take over as the managing director of enterprise business for Asia-Pacific (APAC), expanding his remit beyond India as it seeks to grow adoption of its business messaging and AI-powered enterprise tools across the region.
Garg spent more than five years at WhatsApp, serving as country director of India for business messaging and payments from July 2021 to September 2026, Meta said on Wednesday.
In this period, he worked on building the platform's commercial ecosystem and payment capabilities in India, with business messaging becoming a channel for brands to engage customers, the company said.
In his new role, Garg will oversee Meta's enterprise strategy across APAC, with a focus on business messaging channels, Meta Business Agents and Muse APIs, the company said in a statement.
The company is targeting enterprise use cases involving customer engagement and operational workflows as businesses integrate artificial intelligence into their operations.
Garg brings more than two decades of industry experience to the role. Before joining Meta, he spent 13 years in senior leadership positions at Microsoft, covering sales, strategy, business planning and channel management.
He has also held executive roles as chief operating officer at Nazara Technologies and in general management at Sify.
