Mumbai vice-captain Ayush Mhatre has been ruled out for at least four to six weeks after sustaining a Grade 4 tear in his right hamstring.
Mhatre suffered the injury during Mumbai's Ranji Trophy 2026-27 match against Chandigarh at the Wankhede Stadium. He did not take the field on Day 3 on Tuesday after scoring 48 in the first innings.
Sportstar understands that Mhatre underwent scans on Monday and was initially rested as a precaution. Substitute Suved Parkar fielded in his place.
The injury is a setback for the top-order batter, who had previously sustained a hamstring injury while playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), ruling him out of the second half of IPL 2026.
At the time, Mhatre was CSK's leading run-scorer in the tournament, with 201 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 177.87. He subsequently underwent rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
