Ramesh Powar joined the men’s selection committee, while Pragyan Ojha got named Chairperson. The Cricket Advisory Committee picked Powar after interviews on October 15. He replaces Agarkar, who led the panel previously. The BCCI thanked Agarkar for his work, which included many wins like three ICC titles and two Asia Cup trophies.

Ramesh Powar has been formally appointed to the men’s selection committee, which will be helmed by Pragyan Ojha.

As reported by Cricbuzz earlier, Powar replaces Agarkar, the outgoing selection committee head. Based on seniority (number of Tests played), Ojha will chair the committee. The former India left-arm spinner had been heading the panel on an interim basis.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), including Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape, oversaw the selection process, meeting at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai to screen candidates. Powar was unanimously chosen following the process.

Powar, who featured in two Tests and 31 ODIs between 2004 and 2007, has since held multiple coaching roles, including head coach of the India Women’s team. Cricbuzz understands that Baroda’s Connor Williams and Jacob Martin, as well as Mumbai’s Wasim Jaffer and Salil Ankola, were interviewed for the position. The interviews were held on October 15.

In a statement, the BCCI appreciated Agarkar for his “commitment, conviction and contribution” during his tenure as chairman, which included three ICC titles, two Asia Cup wins and two Asian Games gold medals.
