The Hindu Science Fest in Shivamogga featured many working models from students on themes like waste management and robotics. Superintendent of police B. Nikhil visited the event and said, "some of the ideas were highly innovative and that showed the real talent of students." Winners received cash prizes for projects.
The Science Fest organised by The Hindu in School in association with Excellent Moodubidare witnessed exhibit of a wide range of working models and concepts ranging from waste management and flood warning systems to robotic hands.
Environment and sustainability were a key focus. "Wood Vaulting" showed how wood waste can be put to use for climate action, while a carbon absorber model looked at capturing carbon from the air. A smart dustbin offered a technology-based approach to waste management. Another project presented ethyl acetate as a "super green" solvent for recycling polymers, and a green energy model highlighted sustainable power options.
Several exhibits showed how technology and biology can help farmers. An automatic plant-watering system and a smart farming model demonstrated automated and efficient cultivation, and an integrated nutrient management model examined balanced soil nutrition.
Safety and rescue formed another major theme. A flood detection and early warning system was designed to alert people before water levels rise. A hydraulic rescue model and a fire-fighting robot car showed ways to respond to emergencies, while an automatic fire detection system aimed at catching fires early. An automatic engine stop system for drunk drivers was presented as a way to prevent road accidents.
Robotics models drew considerable attention from visitors. Hygiebot, a hygiene support robot, was designed to assist with cleanliness, and a gesture-controlled robotic hand that responded to the user's hand movements showed how robotics can be made more intuitive. Another model described the types and causes of faults in transmission lines.
Superintendent of police B. Nikhil took time to visit the exhibition area and found some of the ideas were highly innovative and that showed the real talent of students. He interacted with a few students and wished them.
