Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday asked Rahul Gandhi if he would resign as an MP after Gandhi called the 2024 elections illegal. Prasad said, "You became an MP in 2024, so will everyone else from your Party resign?" He also claimed Gandhi does not understand the facts.
Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Wednesday (November 4, 2026) called out Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for alleging electoral irregularities and asked the Leader of the Opposition whether he would resign as an MP.
"Rahul Gandhi keeps blabbering a lot about SIR. I don't know how much he understands SIR. Rahul Gandhi, today you are saying the 2024 election was also wrong. I pose a counter question -- Will you resign? You became an MP in 2024, so will everyone else from your Party resign? Will the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh resign? Rahul Gandhi, will the governments in Telangana and Karnataka also resign?" he asked.
"Now they're after Gyanesh Kumar (Chief Election Commissioner). Who will explain to him that Mr. Kumar was not in the Election Commission in 2024? Rahul Gandhi neither does his homework nor comprehends the facts. I have been informed that all parties in Punjab were united regarding SIR and praised it," he stated.
At a rally in Delhi on Sunday (November 1, 2026), the Opposition INDIA bloc called for the BJP's ouster from power over the "vote chori" charge, with Rahul Gandhi asserting that Gyanesh Kumar will be removed and sent to jail for treason in future and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah will not be allowed to escape the law.
Mr. Gandhi described the 2024 Lok Sabha polls as "illegal" and pointed out that the Election Commission removed 15% of voters from the electoral rolls when the difference between the NDA and the INDIA bloc was just 3% of the votes in the last general election.
The Punjab BJP on Wednesday (November 4, 2026) organised its 'Zakhm 84 De' (wounds of 1984) conclave, aimed at bringing people face-to-face with what the organisers described as the "horrifying truth" of the massacre.
The BJP said it is holding the conclave to bring together survivors, eyewitnesses, legal experts and political leaders to discuss the circumstances surrounding the massacre, alleged conspiracy, legal battles and rehabilitation of victims.
