SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal gave a guarded response on Monday regarding a possible reunion with the BJP for Punjab polls. He said, "You will come to know in a few days what will happen." Badal remains open to alliances with parties that share his philosophy, excluding Congress and AAP.

As talks around an alliance between the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Bharatiya Janata Party for the upcoming Punjab assembly polls continue to dominate public spaces, SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday gave a guarded response to speculation about a possible reunion with the BJP ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections, saying the situation would become clear in a few days, news agency Press Trust of India reported. He also reiterated that the SAD was open to alliances with parties that accepted its philosophy, except the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Asked about the possibility of the SAD reuniting with the BJP, Badal said, "Main pandit tan hai nahin (I am not a Pandit).

You will come to know in a few days what will happen," according to PTI. "I had said that two political parties are enemies of Punjab -- Congress and Jharoowale (AAP). Except them, we are open to those parties which are in the interest of Punjab and which are with our philosophy," he said. Meanwhile, two sitting Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs, Chetan Singh Jouramajra from Samana and Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra from Sanaur, have resigned from the party's primary membership, a day after it announced its first list of 40 candidates for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. Both are likely to join the BJP.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday lauded Chandigarh Police, saying it performed duties exceptionally well and set benchmarks for police forces across the country. Since 1966, Chandigarh Police has worked tirelessly to safeguard the city, effectively writing a golden chapter in the history of policing across the nation, he said. "I believe that over these 60 years, Chandigarh, as the heart of the northern region, has made a successful effort to contribute to the security of all of India," he said.
