BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Thursday accused Conngress leader Rahul Gandhi of meeting "anti-India forces" abroad and alleged that the Congress was joining hands with such elements. "Rahul Gandhi meets anti-India forces abroad... Congress joining hands with anti-India forces," Trivedi said, while targeting the Congress leader over his overseas engagements and political record. He was a addressing a press conference. Trivedi also called Gandhi a "failed product" and said he would present facts and evidence to back his claim. Referring to Gandhi's education and early professional career, the BJP MP said Gandhi had been admitted to Delhi's St Stephen's College as a national-level archer and shooting athlete but had not achieved significant success in the sport thereafter. He also referred to Gandhi's work with British companies Monitor and Backops, claiming that both subsequently shut down. Turning to the Congress's electoral performance, Trivedi said the party's decision to position Gandhi as its undeclared leader ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections was followed by its lowest-ever tally in the Lok Sabha. He contrasted the Congress's performance with the BJP's victory in 2014, when the party secured a majority on its own under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. The Congress won 44 seats in that election, falling below the 50-seat mark for the first time.
