BRS leader R.S. Praveen Kumar criticised the State Government for closing the Medigadda Barrage sinking case without a proper probe. He questioned how officials closed the 2023 case as undetected in 2025. He said, "How would the case be closed without conducting an investigation into the suspicion that explosives were detonated?"

General secretary of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) R.S. Praveen Kumar has criticised the State Government for closing the case related to sinking of some piers of the Medigadda Barrage of Kaleshwaram Project.

Speaking to newspersons here on Thursday, he sought to know how the case would be closed without conducting an investigation into the suspicion that explosives were detonated in the controlled explosion/blast. He said case No. 174/2023 was registered under IPC Section 357 based on a complaint lodged by an engineer working for the Kaleshwaram Project then, Ravikanth. The usual procedure would be to seize the site of incident/crime, collecting samples at the damaged piers, video record the scene and collecting cellphone data of Congress and BJP leaders and their poll strategists, who were speaking against the project for analysis, along with data collection on seismic activity in the area that day, if any, along with the Richter Scale data.

He alleged that the case was closed in 2025 itself as 'undetected' and due to lack of any evidence. As per the Geneva Pact, any act of dam collapse would be treated as a war crime, he noted.
