An eight-year-old boy attacked a six-year-old girl at Panchkula’s Sanskriti Model School on October 28. The boy pulled her hair and banged her head against a desk. The victim got severe injuries and moved to PGIMER for treatment. Her uncle said, "The staff are paid substantial salaries, yet they fail."

A six-year-old girl suffered severe injuries after an alleged assault by an eight-year-old boy inside a classroom in a Panchkula school.

A purported video of the assault, which has surfaced on social media, shows the class 3 student pulling the girl by her hair and repeatedly banging her head against a desk. After she falls down, the attacker appears to kick her and hit her with an object resembling a brick.

The boy continued attacking the KG student inside the empty classroom despite her losing consciousness and lying in a pool of blood.

The incident in Panchkula's Sanskriti Model School on October 28, news agency PTI said quoting a senior police official.

According to news agency ANI, the victim's family has alleged that the class 3 boy took the girl to the first floor on the pretext that her father was waiting for her. They have questioned the school's security arrangements and asked how is it that no one noticed the brutal attack despite CCTV cameras being monitored from the principal's office.

The family added that it was the eight-year-old boy accused of attacking the girl who took them to her. The girl was found covered in blood, inside a room that had been locked from the outside.

"That day, she had gone to school, but she never returned ... When the auto-rickshaw driver arrived, the girl was not there. He informed my brother (the victim’s father) ... When my brother reached school, the boy told him that she was lying upstairs and left. Upon seeing her, my brother collapsed, overcome by shock. She was lying there, covered in blood, inside a room that had been locked from the outside," the victim's uncle Fazil told ANI.

"This incident serves as a lesson for all schools ... Whether it’s a private school or a government school—the staff are paid substantial salaries, yet they fail to do their jobs properly," he added.

DCP (Crime) Amrinder Singh confirmed that the boy is eight years old and the girl is six.

The girl was initially taken to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6 following the assault. However, after providing preliminary treatment, doctors referred her to Chandigarh's Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) due to the severity of her injuries.

Describing the extent of the child's injuries, her uncle said the assault was extremely brutal and left the family shaken. "The boy has beaten her so mercilessly, I cannot even describe it ... We had little hope she would survive ...," Fazil added.

The boy, he said, reportedly has a poor reputation in the neighbourhood and is known for picking fights with others.
