Chief Minister urges alliance partners to ensure heavy polling on November 5, maintain restraint during counting of urban local body votes on November 3
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said elections to the urban local bodies were conducted peacefully despite alleged attempts by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) to create disturbances.
He asked leaders of the alliance parties to exercise restraint and take adequate precautions during the counting of votes for the urban local body elections on November 3 and polling for the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTCs) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) on November 5.
He said the coalition government had undertaken large-scale development programmes in villages and ensured the welfare of every family, with a focus on good governance.
The NDA should be in power not only at the Centre and in the State but also at the local level to ensure development, he said. Claiming that works worth nearly ₹1.50 lakh crore were under way in rural areas, he urged the alliance leaders to strengthen their presence in local bodies.
Noting the low voter turnout in the urban local body elections, Mr. Naidu asked leaders of the TDP and its allies to work towards ensuring a higher turnout in the MPTC and ZPTC elections.
Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar represented the Jana Sena Party at the teleconference, while BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav also participated.
