Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Wednesday that the Legislative Council election results showed public disillusionment with the Congress government. He claimed the outcome marked the beginning of its end. Bommai added, "The countdown for the Congress government has begun," while predicting a strong future for the NDA alliance.

Dharwad: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Haveri MP Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday claimed that the results of the Karnataka Legislative Council elections to the Graduates' and Teachers' constituencies showed growing public disillusionment with the Congress government and marked the beginning of its countdown.

Reacting to the election results, Bommai claimed that the outcome reflected public dissatisfaction with the Congress government's administration over the past three-and-a-half years.

In a post on X, Bommai said the elections, held across nearly 17 districts and Bengaluru city, indicated that people had begun rejecting the Congress.

"The countdown for the Congress government has begun. These results are also a mirror to the three months of Chief Minister DK Shivakumar's administration," he said.

Bommai expressed confidence that the BJP-JD(S) alliance would secure a two-thirds majority in the 2028 Assembly elections if both parties continued to work together.

"If the BJP and JD(S) work unitedly, speak in one voice and take up struggles on issues concerning the people, our NDA alliance will certainly secure a two-thirds majority in the 2028 Assembly elections," he said.

He thanked voters in the Graduates' and Teachers' constituencies and congratulated the winning candidates. He also thanked NDA leaders and workers of both parties for their efforts during the elections.
