Lok Janshakti Party president Chirag Paswan said on Thursday his party may contest all 403 Uttar Pradesh Assembly seats if alliance talks fail. Speaking at a Varanasi rally, Paswan said his party is prepared to explore an independent electoral course. The party now plans many meetings to build its support base.

The Union Minister indicated that the party was prepared to explore an independent electoral course if alliance negotiations did not yield a consensus.

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan on Thursday said his party may consider contesting all 403 Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh if it fails to reach an agreement with its political allies ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

Making the statement at a 'Nav Sankalp Mahasabha' in Varanasi, Paswan indicated that the party was prepared to explore an independent electoral course if alliance negotiations did not yield a consensus.

The rally marked the beginning of the LJP (Ram Vilas)'s preparations and organisational assessment for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections.

The party has decided to contest the polls and is currently evaluating its organisational strength and support base across different regions before identifying constituencies where it can field candidates.

As part of the exercise, the party will organise a series of 'Nav Sankalp Mahasabhas' across Uttar Pradesh, covering different commissionerates and the districts falling under them.

Varanasi, which hosted the first gathering on Thursday, is part of the party's broader strategy to strengthen its presence, particularly in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The region remains a key focus for the LJP (Ram Vilas), which is looking to consolidate support among Dalit voters and expand its political footprint amid the presence of established parties such as the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Samajwadi Party.

During the rally at Jagatpur Inter College, Union Minister Paswan interacted with party workers, office-bearers and local residents and outlined the party's objectives and the broad contours of its proposed manifesto for Uttar Pradesh.

The gathering was also intended to communicate the party's political direction and mobilise support ahead of the elections.

The LJP (Ram Vilas) has expressed its intention to contest the Uttar Pradesh elections as part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The party, which is an NDA constituent at the Centre and in Bihar, is expected to assess its ground strength before entering into seat-sharing negotiations with its allies.

The party is drawing from its experience in Bihar, where it organised similar 'Nav Sankalp Mahasabhas' ahead of the 2025 Assembly elections. It eventually contested 29 seats as an NDA partner and won 19.

Meanwhile, the BJP has also begun preparations for the 2027 UP elections. At a recent state working committee meeting in Lucknow, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other senior leaders called for strengthening the organisation, with the party setting a target of winning 325 to 350 seats.

With its statewide assessment now beginning in Varanasi, the LJP (Ram Vilas) is expected to expand its outreach through regional meetings before deciding its constituency-wise strategy and negotiating its electoral arrangements.

The outcome of these assessments will likely determine the party's seat-sharing demands within the NDA and whether it eventually contests independently.
