BJP leader N. Ramchander Rao on October 26, 2026, accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of ignoring drought issues to attend a Delhi rally. Rao said, "The State is witnessing drought-like conditions." The BJP will start a padayatra on November 2 to protest against the Congress party’s campaign regarding electoral rolls.
Ramchander Rao says BJP would organise a massive padayatra under the slogan "Loktantra Bachao, Arajakata Hatao" (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy) on November 2
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao on Monday (October 26, 2026) accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of neglecting pressing public issues, particularly the emerging drought situation in the State, to participate in a political rally in Delhi against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
"The State is witnessing drought-like conditions, yet the Chief Minister is focused on pleasing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi instead of addressing people's hardships," he alleged. Claiming that nearly 330 of the State's more than 600 mandals had experienced rainfall deficiency, Mr. Rao said only about 500 of the 6,000 irrigation tanks presently had adequate water. Given the seriousness of the situation, the government should be concentrating on relief measures rather than political activities, he said.
BJP's rally on November 2
The BJP leader further accused the Congress Party of attempting to create "anarchy" through its campaign against the SIR exercise. To counter what he termed the Congress party's "anti-democratic narrative", the BJP would organise a massive padayatra under the slogan "Loktantra Bachao, Arajakata Hatao" (Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy) on November 2. The march will be led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Mr. Rao also accused Congress party leaders for targeting the Election Commission of India (ECI) over the SIR process "without providing evidence". The party was continuing "baseless propaganda" against SIR though it was in the final stage,
He challenged the Chief Minister to identify genuine voters who had been wrongly excluded from electoral rolls in his native village, Kondareddypally. Even the Congress party ministers here had failed to substantiate allegations of eligible voters being deleted from the rolls when challenged by the BJP, said Mr. Rao.
