As probe into Tiger Shroff shooting case continues to widen, fresh details have emerged claiming that the men accused of firing at 'War' actor were initially told to target actor Aamir Khan, before allegedly switching targets after failing to find him outside his home, The Indian Express reported, quoting police sources.
According to the report, the alleged shooters, Phool Singh and Rehan Ansari, arrived in Mumbai from Haryana on September 20 and spent nearly a month conducting reconnaissance in areas around the actors’ residences.
Police sources told The Indian Express that the men visited the area around Aamir Khan’s residence at least three times. They allegedly found that the actor was frequently away for film shoots or remained at home for days without stepping out.
“The shooters had been told to target Aamir Khan. While the shooters claimed to not know the motive, we suspect it is in line with the threat issued earlier this year,” an officer told the publication.
Aamir Khan was allegedly the main target
The report said the alleged plot may have been linked to threats Aamir Khan received in July, when a person claiming to be Arzoo Bishnoi, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, allegedly threatened the actor over his marriage to Gauri Spratt.
In a screenshot shared on social media and an audio clip, the person allegedly objected to the marriage, claiming it was against Sanatan Dharma and the nation. The message warned that the gang would not tolerate such acts and would respond soon.
Why did the alleged shooters switch to Tiger Shroff?
According to police sources cited by The Indian Express, the alleged shooters changed their plans towards the end of September after failing to find an opportunity to target Aamir Khan.
They allegedly contacted Anil Pandit, a close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi- currently in the U.S who later claimed responsibility for the firing at Shroff in a purported audio clip.
By the first week of October, the accused had allegedly decided to target Shroff instead. They moved from Bandra to Andheri, closer to Pushpa Narsee Park in Juhu, where the actor reportedly played football on Sundays.
Police sources said the men may have noticed Shroff coming and going from his residence while conducting reconnaissance in the area. The two actors live a few kilometres apart in Bandra, according to the report.
Shroff had previously praised Salman Khan, calling him the “real tiger of Bollywood”.
So far, during the probe actor Ranbir Kapoor, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan's names have surfaced, who were allegedly on Bishnoi Gang's radar before Tiger Shroff was attacked.
