Chief Electoral Officer A.S.P.S. Ravi Prakash held a meeting with representatives of six recognised political parties in Puducherry to brief them on the Special Summary Revision (SSR) exercise being undertaken in the Union Territory.

The Election Commission of India has directed the Election Department to undertake the SSR of the photo electoral roll in the Union Territory. The representatives of political parties were informed about the procedural aspects involved in the conduct of the SSR.

The instructions given by the ECI were passed on to the representatives of political parties at the meeting held on Friday. The CEO sought the cooperation of all parties in ensuring the smooth conduct of the revision process, a release here said.

"During the meeting, the CEO explained the important legal provisions and procedural aspects of the SSR, with particular emphasis on the instructions given by the Election Commission. The CEO also clarified and addressed the concerns raised by the representatives of political parties," the release said. Deputy Chief Electoral officers B. Thillaivel and M. Kandasamy were present.
