The INDIA bloc brought together some of the country's most prominent Opposition leaders at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Sunday, November 1, in a show of strength against alleged electoral irregularities and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Mallikarjun Kharge, Akhilesh Yadav, Mehbooba Mufti and other leaders shared the stage as protesters raised slogans against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demanded Kumar's resignation.

From Rahul's warning to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Mamata's 'Vanish Kumar' jibe and Kharge's call to remove the BJP government, the rally saw sharp political attacks amid a sea of flags and banners.

Here are glimpses of the Opposition's show of unity at Ramlila Maidan.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah owed their positions to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

"Without Gyanesh Kumar, neither Narendra Modi would have become Prime Minister nor Amit Shah would have become Home Minister," Gandhi said.

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee took a swipe at the chief election commissioner, accusing the BJP of electoral manipulation and alleging that Bengal had suffered under the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

"Gyanesh, when will you vanish?" she asked, pledging to continue the fight against the exercise.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge accused the BJP of securing power through stolen mandates and urged Opposition parties to unite against alleged vote theft.

"No matter how many attempts Narendra Modi makes.. until Gyanesh Kumar resigns, we will not stay silent -- we will keep fighting," Kharge declared.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav likened the gathering to a historic battlefield, suggesting that the mobilisation signalled the possibility of political change.

"Today, Ramlila Maidan has turned into the Haldighati of democracy," Yadav said, invoking the historic battle to describe the Opposition's confrontation with the BJP.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav invoked the Mahabharata to accuse those in power of manipulating the electoral process, comparing the Opposition's confrontation with the BJP to the epic's battle against deceit.

"While the Ramlila Maidan is traditionally meant for staging the Ramayana, today we have organised a 'Mahabharata' for those who steal votes," Yadav said.
