Former IAS officer Divya Mittal, who has entered politics, announced that her JanNiti Bharat party will contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and field candidates in all 403 constituencies where it finds strong candidates.
Mittal made the announcement during an interaction with the public in Chunar, Mirzapur, on Saturday. She said the party would field a candidate in Chunar and appealed to local residents to support the nominee.
During her visit, Mittal garlanded the statue of Nishadraj at Guhrj Nishad Park and paid tribute to him before interacting with people.
"Our party will contest the Assembly elections. We will field a candidate in Chunar as well. I request the people of Chunar to support our candidate. Wherever we find a strong candidate, we will field candidates across all 403 seats," Mittal said.
She also explained her decision to enter public life, saying she wanted to establish people's rule and bring JanNiti (people-centric governance) rather than merely engage in politics.
"I have come among the people so that we can establish people's rule. We need to bring JanNiti, not just politics," she said.
Mittal's announcement comes ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. A video of her announcing the party's electoral plans during the interaction has gone viral on social media.
