Anakapalli: The Anakapalli district police have prohibited all traffic on the Vaddadi and Vijayarama Raju Peta causeways in Buchaiahpet mandal as floodwater is flowing across them following heavy rains caused by cyclone Arnab.

Acting on the instructions of Anakapalli Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha, the police issued an emergency warning to the public. According to a press release, the police have banned the movement of pedestrians and all vehicles, including two-wheelers, autorickshaws, buses and lorries, across the two causeways as the water flow has reached dangerous levels.

The police have also warned cattle owners against attempting to move their animals across the flooded causeways, cautioning that such attempts could endanger both human and animal lives.

Residents of Buchaiahpet, V. Madugula, Chodavaram and Cheedikada mandals have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors unless there is an emergency. People have been urged not to underestimate the force of the water or attempt to cross flooded routes.

Police personnel have been deployed at the causeways to prevent accidents. The restrictions will remain in force until weather conditions improve and floodwaters recede, the police said, appealing to the public to cooperate with the authorities. People requiring emergency assistance can call 112 or contact their local police station.
