Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari Sourced by the Telegraph
Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on Friday asked Mamata Banerjee to "go to Delhi" and claimed her political career in Bengal was over.
"Now, you are running off to Delhi. On one side, there is the CPM's (general secretary) Mr Baby, and on the other, there is someone who broke away from the Congress to form the Trinamool Congress and is now seeking the Congress's support," Suvendu told a Ganatantra Banchao Sabha (Save Democracy Rally) in Baruipur, South 24-Parganas.
"Go to Delhi. Go to Ramlila Maidan. There is nothing left for you in West Bengal. No matter how many elections you contest, you will keep losing."
Mamata is expected to participate in the INDIA bloc's "vote chori" rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on November 1, a source said.
Suvendu threw a dare at Mamata.
"I defeated you twice, once in Nandigram in 2021 and again in Bhabanipur in 2026. You lost in your own neighbourhood of Bhabanipur. You lost at your polling booth, and you lost in your ward. You have lost twice," he said.
"If you have the courage, contest again. I will again defeat you. If you have the guts, come and fight."
Suvendu cited the defeats suffered by Mamata's candidates in the re-election in Falta, Diamond Harbour, and the by-election in Rejinagar, Murshidabad.
In both Rejinagar and Falta, Mamata's candidates lost their security deposits. In Nandigram, where too by-elections were held, Mamata's candidate withdrew her nomination after meeting Suvendu at Nabanna.
Suvendu also mocked Mamata's sudden political proximity to bete-noire CPM, the party that Trinamool was formed to combat and which it defeated to come to power.
