Plastic piping volume grows 24% in Q2

Commenting on the business environment, M P Taparia, Chairman and Managing Director of Supreme Industries, said operating conditions in the second quarter of FY27 showed signs of stabilisation after the volatility in polymer prices during the first quarter.

He said the geopolitical situation in West Asia continued to affect polymer price movements. However, government measures, including the implementation of a Minimum Import Price (MIP) on suspension-grade PVC resin and the withdrawal of customs duty exemption, had helped reduce market volatility.

Taparia said investments in infrastructure, housing, urban development, water management, irrigation networks and city gas distribution were providing long-term demand visibility across the company's business segments.

The plastic piping systems business continued to focus on value-added products, manufacturing capabilities and market expansion. The integration of the former Wavin business and access to its technologies were helping the company develop products for building and infrastructure applications.

The company is increasing its focus on value-added products, including PERT piping systems, gas piping systems, electrofusion fittings, premium bath fittings, industrial valves and PP silent pipe systems.

Plastic Piping Division volumes grew about 2 per cent in the first half of FY27 compared with the corresponding period last year. However, the division recorded volume growth of about 24 per cent in the second quarter.

Taparia said the company aimed to maintain the momentum and achieve better growth for the full year, while noting that the uncertain geopolitical situation made precise growth forecasts difficult.
