Foreign institutional investors bought Indian equities worth a net ₹6,836.81 crore on Tuesday, November 3, marking their biggest single-day investment of 2026. This massive inflow helped the Sensex and Nifty extend their rally for a fourth session. Raamdeo Agrawal said, "Foreign investors to return as corporate earnings improve and valuations become attractive."
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought Indian equities worth a net ₹6,836.81 crore on Tuesday, November 3, marking their biggest single-day net investment of 2026, according to exchange data.
The inflow surpassed the previous high of ₹6,688.37 crore recorded on September 2. FIIs bought shares worth ₹20,970.51 crore and sold ₹14,133.70 crore during the session.
The buying followed net inflows of ₹3,114.68 crore on Monday, taking foreign investors’ combined net purchases over the first two sessions of the week to nearly ₹9,952 crore.
Domestic institutional investors (DIIs), by contrast, remained net sellers. They sold shares worth ₹20,402.76 crore and bought ₹16,723.91 crore, resulting in net outflows of ₹3,678.85 crore. That followed net selling of ₹392.20 crore on Monday.
Sensex, Nifty extend rally for fourth session
The foreign inflows came as benchmark indices rose for a fourth consecutive session. The Sensex climbed 1,225 points to close at 76,918, while the Nifty gained 370 points to settle at 23,811, moving back above the 23,800 mark.
The Nifty has advanced nearly 5% over the past four sessions, its biggest four-day gain in seven months.
Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) stocks were among the biggest contributors to Tuesday’s rally, with the sectoral index rising 3%. Marico surged 9% after reporting strong second-quarter results and raising its FY27 guidance.
Capital market stocks also attracted buying. BSE was the Nifty’s biggest gainer, rising 5%.
Reliance Industries recovered to end higher, adding nearly ₹2 lakh crore to its market capitalisation over the past two sessions. MCX gained 8% ahead of its Q2 results, while Lodha Developers rose 6% despite issuing a cautious outlook.
Foreign investors could return as earnings improve: Raamdeo Agrawal
Raamdeo Agrawal, chairman and co-founder of Motilal Oswal Financial Services, told CNBC-TV18 earlier on Tuesday that domestic institutional and retail investment flows were likely to remain strong. He also expects foreign investors to return as corporate earnings improve and Indian equity valuations become more attractive.
Agrawal sees opportunities in banks, capital markets, capital goods, defence and companies linked to the energy transition. Consumption could also recover, he said, while investors should focus on businesses with strong franchises, distribution networks and improving demand.
