Anthropic filed for an IPO under the ticket ANT, aiming for a $1.5 trillion valuation. The company said revenue rose 45% to $16.8 billion in the third quarter. While demand for Claude grew, investors now watch mounting infrastructure costs and losses as they decide if the high price is worth it.

Anthropic’s planned IPO is shaping up to be one of the biggest tests of investor appetite for artificial intelligence, with the Claude maker seeking a public-market valuation that some investors now peg at around $1.5 trillion, according to Reuters

The company is preparing to market its shares after it filed for an IPO under the ticket ANT, although the number of shares to be released yet to be determined. Its eventual listing will give public-market investors a chance to buy into one of the leading developers of AI models, but the company’s rapid growth comes with mounting infrastructure costs, substantial losses and questions over how long its current growth trajectory can be sustained.

Here are five numbers investors should watch before deciding whether to subscribe to the IPO.

$1.5 trillion: The valuation bid

Anthropic’s potential valuation has become a central point of debate ahead of its listing. Some investors had previously discussed a valuation of around $2 trillion, but expectations have moderated after the company’s latest financial disclosures and concerns about the pace of revenue growth.

Live Events

At $1.5 trillion, investors would be paying a substantial premium for the company’s future growth rather than its historical financial performance. The final valuation and the price at which shares are offered will determine how much of that growth is already reflected in the stock.

Investors should compare the proposed market value with revenue forecasts, the company’s expected profitability and the valuations of listed technology companies. A strong business can still be an expensive investment if the IPO price assumes years of exceptional growth.

$16.8 billion: The latest quarterly revenue

Anthropic told prospective IPO investors that revenue rose 45% sequentially to $16.8 billion in the third quarter, according to Reuters. The company also reported adjusted profitability for the quarter.

The figures tells investors the speed at which demand for its AI models is expanding, particularly among businesses using Claude for coding, automation and other enterprise applications.

However, investors should distinguish quarterly revenue from annualised revenue run rates. A run rate extrapolates a recent period’s performance and does not guarantee that the same level of sales will be sustained throughout a full year. Investors will need to examine how much growth comes from recurring customer demand, how quickly existing clients are increasing spending and whether new customer acquisition can maintain its pace.

$42 billion: The reported net loss

Anthropic reported a net loss of about $42 billion in 2025, according to its IPO prospectus reviewed by Reuters. The figure included an approximately $34 billion accounting charge, largely associated with changes in the estimated value of financing instruments that could eventually convert into shares.

The company’s operating loss exceeded $8 billion, excluding those liability-related write-downs, according to the prospectus.

The distinction matters because the headline net loss does not represent cash spent on day-to-day operations alone. At the same time, investors should not dismiss the operating loss: developing advanced AI models requires substantial spending on computing infrastructure, research and talent.

Anthropic’s ability to turn revenue growth into sustained operating profits will be a key measure of whether its business model can support a trillion-dollar valuation.

$518 billion: The infrastructure commitment

Anthropic plans to spend $518 billion on cloud, computing and infrastructure obligations in the coming year, according to its prospectus, highlighting the capital-intensive nature of its expansion plans.

The figure represents a major commitment to the infrastructure required to train and run increasingly powerful AI models. It also raises questions about the company’s future cash requirements, its dependence on computing suppliers and the risk that demand may not grow quickly enough to justify the spending.

Investors should examine the timing and contractual nature of these obligations, how much flexibility Anthropic has to reduce or defer them, and the extent to which future revenue can cover infrastructure costs. The headline commitment should not automatically be treated as cash expenditure incurred in a single period.

47%: Dependence on major cloud partners

Anthropic routed 47% of its sales to customers in 2025 through Amazon and Google, according to its IPO prospectus reviewed by Reuters. Both companies are investors in Anthropic, provide critical computing infrastructure and compete in the AI market themselves.

The partnerships give Anthropic access to computing capacity and customer distribution, helping it scale quickly. But they also create concentration risks: changes in commercial terms, infrastructure pricing or the partners’ own AI strategies could affect Anthropic’s costs and access to customers.

Investors should also examine customer concentration and the durability of contracts. Reuters reported that nearly a quarter of Anthropic’s revenue came from two customers in 2025, while the company warned that some large clients could reduce or stop spending.
