The Indian stock market rebounded on Monday, with Sensex and Nifty staging a sharp recovery of nearly 2% from the early losses and snapping a four-day losing streak that wiped off massive sums of investor wealth.
Sensex rose 483 points to close at 73,607, recovering nearly 1,100 points after hitting the day’s low at 72,515. Nifty’s meanwhile gained over 153 points to close at 22,753, after having dropped below 22,400 earlier in the day.
Here's how analysts read the market pulse
"Indian equities recovered from early losses, supported by value buying and strength in metals, power and healthcare. However, elevated crude prices, geopolitical uncertainty and caution ahead of the Fed, ECB and BoJ policy decisions kept sentiment measured. Mid- and small-caps also witnessed some recovery after last week’s sharp correction, although investors remained selective, favouring earnings visibility and valuation comfort. Early-bird quarterly results suggest a commodity-led earnings boost in power generation, metals and refining, but high energy costs and interest rates are forecast to moderate overall corporates growth in the coming quarters,” said Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Limited.

Live Events
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq were set for their biggest one-day gain in more than a month on Monday as tech stocks advanced after Anthropic's IPO filing put AI back in focus at the start of a week packed with corporate earnings and the Federal Reserve's interest-rate decision.
Anthropic disclosed steep losses and red-hot revenue growth in its filing for a US initial public offering, laying out its ambition to build AI systems capable of reshaping the global economy despite the high costs of developing the technology.
Semiconductor and chip-related companies, widely viewed as some of the biggest winners of the AI boom, were leading the gains. The broader Philadelphia chips index was up more than 3% after a turbulent few weeks.
Market breadth was strong, with eight of the 11 S&P 500 sectors trading higher. Information technology and consumer discretionary led the gains.
The Fed's rate decision is due on Wednesday, with a pause widely expected after its September raise. Traders still see a December hike as firmly possible, and at least two 25-basis-point increases by mid-2027, according to LSEG data.
