ORDER WIN FROM RAIL MINISTRY
In an exchange filing issued on Thursday, October 29, the Kolkata-based rolling stock and mobility solutions company said that it has received an order from the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) for the manufacture and supply of 2,583 wagons.
The value of this order is pegged at ₹1,140 crore (including taxes). On its orderbook, the company underscored the diversity of its orders from the private and public sectors. According to Jupiter Wagons, alongside its Indian Railways business, the mobility solutions company's private sector order book remains strong. This is aided by demand from private freight operators, wagon leasing companies.
The company added that it expects incremental order inflows of approximately ₹2,000 crore in Q4 FY27.
Commenting on the order, Vivek Lohia, Managing Director, Jupiter Wagons Limited, said: "Over the years, we have integrated backward across the wagon value chain, from castings and bogies to couplers and brake systems, and we are now extending this to wheelsets through our facility in Odisha. That gives us greater control over cost, quality, and delivery timelines. The order supports the Government of India's objective of raising the railways' share of freight movement under the National Rail Plan."
Earlier this year, in August, the company had disclosed a strategic collaboration with Lucchini RS Holding and SIMEST, both based in Italy, to establish the nation's inaugural fully integrated private-sector rail wheel manufacturing facility specializing in wheels, axles, and wheelsets.
As per the agreement between the entities Lucchini RS will procure a 15% equity interest in Jupiter Tatravagonka Railwheel Factory (JTRWF), whereas SIMEST, an Italian state-owned financial entity, will procure an additional 10% equity interest. The aggregate 25% equity interest acquisition carries a valuation of approximately €28 million.
