Karnataka govt urged to declare drought, announce relief of ₹40,000 for each farmer
The State Sugarcane Growers’ Association urged the Karnataka government to declare a drought and provide ₹40,000 relief to each farmer. Kurubur Shanthakumar said, “Nearly 50% of the State had received deficient rainfall.” Farmers face severe crop loss and water shortages, so the association also demanded a waiver of all loans.
