The Bombay High Court halted the release of Tu Hai Meri Kiran on October 19 over a financial dispute. Producers must deposit Rs 8.85 crore to proceed. Producer Vishal Rana said, "Everything is now sorted, and we are moving ahead with the release of Tu Hai Meri Kiran as planned."
Bollywood star couple Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal's upcoming film Tu Hai Meri Kiran is set to release in theatres this Friday (October 23). Ahead of its arrival in cinemas, the Bombay High Court passed an interim order on October 19 under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, following a plea by co-producer AND Movie Products LLP. The order halted the film's theatrical release until co-producer Echelon Productions deposits Rs 8.85 crore with 15 per cent interest. Now, the makers have issued a statement clarifying that the issues have been resolved internally and the film is set to release as planned.
Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal's Tu Hai Meri Kiran has been embroiled in a legal battle. In its plea, AND Movie said that it had invested Rs 8.85 crore under a co-production agreement signed in March 2024. However, Echelon allegedly failed to return the money within the agreed time, and a cheque issued for the payment was dishonoured. Meanwhile, the latter argued that AND Movie had agreed to the film's release by actively participating in its promotional posts on Instagram.
The Court on Monday rejected this argument and stated that promoting a film on social media does not mean giving up financial claims or rights related to its release and distribution. It also directed Echelon to deposit Rs 8.85 crore with 15 per cent interest within three working days as security before releasing the film. The production house was also asked to share details of all agreements with third parties related to the film's release and distribution. Additionally, the production house must restore the producer credits as agreed within 48 hours, ordered Justice Amit Borkar.
Speaking about the development, producer Vishal Rana said in a statement, "There were certain matters that needed to be addressed, and I am glad that we have been able to resolve them internally. Everything is now sorted, and we are moving ahead with the release of Tu Hai Meri Kiran as planned on 23rd October. Our focus has always been on bringing the film to audiences, and we look forward to its theatrical release tomorrow."
