Trisha is reportedly being considered to play former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in an upcoming biopic on legendary actor-politician MG Ramachandran (MGR). Actor JM Bashir, who will portray MGR in the film titled Puratchi Thalaivar MGR, revealed that discussions are underway with Trisha for the role. The actress has previously expressed her interest in portraying Jayalalithaa, citing the late leader’s remarkable journey in cinema and politics. While, Trisha’s casting in the biopic is yet to be officially confirmed, JM Bashir is confident that there will be no problem in making the film on the legend.

JM Bashir said the makers are discussing the role with Trisha and explained that his daughter shares a friendship with the actress. The two are also working together on a film. He added, "I think it would be good if Trisha acted."
In a press meet, JM Bashir said, "There is no obstacle for me to make an MGR film." He also spoke about his political journey, saying he had been associated with the AIADMK and DMK before joining TVK.
Bashir praised the current administration led by Vijay, stating, "Chief Minister Vijay's regime has got a good name. He may even become the Prime Minister in the future due to his influence."
JM Bashir Praises CM Vijay, Talks About Trisha's Casting In MGR Bipic
Trisha has previously expressed interest in portraying Jayalalithaa on screen. In 2017, during a Twitter interaction with fans, she chose Jayalalithaa when asked which among Kalpana Chawla, Jayalalithaa and Marilyn Monroe she would like to portray in a biopic. The two also studied in Church Park, the same school in Chennai.
M Karunanidhi And C N Annadurai To Feature In Film
The biopic will also include characters based on political leaders M Karunanidhi and C N Annadurai, with the makers currently working on casting for these roles and other key characters. JM Bashir said the film would present an account of MGR’s journey across cinema and politics.
Filming is scheduled to begin in Ramapuram, Chennai, with Bashir previously stating that the shoot would start on October 17. The director and music composer are yet to be announced, and the team is expected to share further details.
The project follows Bashir’s appearance in Pasumpon Devar, a film centred on the life of Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar.
Meanwhile, Thalapathy Vijay was last seen in Jana Nayagan earlier this year, marking his final film before his political innings, while Trisha is currently working on a thriller film directed by Raj Krishna Menon.
