Shilpa Rao’s performance at the Bollywood Music Project on October 24 ended abruptly after organisers cut her mic and stage lights. The singer said, "A little piece of my heart broke." Organisers later apologised, claiming strict curfew rules caused the delay, but fans remain upset over the disrespectful incident.

Shilpa Rao was one of the performers at the Bollywood Music Project (BMP) on October 24. Her fans and audience were looking forward to an eventful set with the National Film Award recipient. However, what unfolded on Saturday left all shocked and disappointed. According to viral videos, Shilpa's performance was cut short abruptly. The mic that was used by the singer was turned off along with the lights on stage. Reportedly, due to the delay in the set, her performance had to be wrapped before its completion.

The attendees claimed that when Shilpa came midway to thank them for their support and love, her speech was also cut short. Kulte Project's Kutle Khan started singing in the middle of her dialogue, not letting Rao complete her speech. The internet came down heavily on the organisers of Bollywood Music Project (BMP), calling the incident an insult to Shilpa and her talent.

Shilpa shared an Instagram post following the BMP incident. The singer said a little piece of her heart broke. "It hurts deeply to have something so beautiful taken away from us like this. But even when the music stopped, you did not. The way you kept calling my name, the love in your voices. I could feel it all. Our story tonight was left unfinished. I promise, I will come back," she further wrote.

Responding to the incident, BMP's organisers issued a clarification on social media. The part of the note read, "We hold Shilpa Rao in the highest regard. We deeply value and respect her incredible legacy, her unparalleled artistry, and the profound impact she continues to make on the music industry. It was an absolute honour to have her on our lineup."

Extending apologies to Shilpa, the organisers further informed that the festival operates under strict local authority guidelines and venue curfew regulations, 'compounding delays' caused a premature end to her set. "While these circumstances were entirely out of our control, we deeply regret that we could not showcase her performance in its entirety," the note read.
