Suriya and Nazriya Nazim film Scene crosses ₹37 crore at the box office after two days, receiving positive reviews and dominating its home turf.
Suriya is back in theatres with Scene, and this time, he has picked a film that mixes crime, comedy and suspense. The film also brings Nazriya Nazim back to Tamil cinema after 12 long years. Audiences seem to be enjoying this unusual story, and the film had a good start at the box office. Now, all eyes are on how it is doing in its first weekend.
Scene made ₹18.46 crore on Saturday, its second day in theatres. While this is less than what it earned on the first day, the film has managed to take its total collection to ₹37.61 crore.
The film is also facing competition from Ramayana. However, its Tamil-dubbed version has not made much of an impact in Tamil Nadu so far. This has helped Scene stay ahead in its home market.
Suriya has had two successful releases before Scene this year, Karuppu and Vishwanath & Sons. So, it is natural for fans to compare how his new film is doing against them. Karuppu collected ₹24.15 crore on its second day, taking its two-day total to ₹39.65 crore. Vishwanath & Sons, on the other hand, earned ₹22.25 crore on day 2 and collected ₹37.60 crore in its first two days. Scene has managed to move just ahead of Vishwanath & Sons, but Karuppu is still leading the race. The difference between Scene and Vishwanath & Sons is also very small.
In Scene, Suriya plays a police officer named Inbaraaj. He is known for his attitude and swagger. But things get strange when he arrives at a prison and the inmates start behaving very differently. Soon, a secret about him comes out, and he gets pulled into an investigation. The film is also special for Nazriya Nazim, who is returning to Tamil cinema after 12 years. Naslen makes his Tamil debut with this film.
Scene has been written and directed by Jithu Madhavan. It is produced by Suriya and Jyothika’s 2D Entertainment along with the newly started Zhagaram Studios. The film also features Anandaraj, Lal, Rajpriyan, Suresh Mathiyalagan and Gajaraj in important roles.
