“Gupts, my brother. I still cannot believe that you are gone. We have shared so much together, so many memories and so many years of friendship. You have always been family to me, and that will never change. I will miss you, our conversations and all the times we spent together. We were just discussing Kante 2 recently, I will make Kaante 2 your dream, in memory of you my brother, I will do everything for this dream of yours to come true, love you forever and always. Life will not be the same without you, brother. May God bless your soul,” he captioned.

The photographs shared by Dutt offered glimpses into their longstanding association, featuring candid moments from film sets, promotional appearances and personal celebrations. The tribute reflected a relationship that extended well beyond their work together in the film industry.

Dutt and Gupta shared a significant creative partnership that contributed to several films in Hindi cinema. Their association began with Gupta’s directorial debut, Aatish: Feel the Fire (1994), in which Dutt played the gangster Baba.

The duo subsequently collaborated on projects including Khauff (2000), Kaante (2002) and Musafir (2004). Their association also extended to Dus Kahaniyaan (2007), while Shootout at Lokhandwala (2007), directed by Apoorva Lakhia, featured Dutt and further connected the actor with Gupta’s crime-film universe. Dutt and Gupta were also associated with White Feather Films.

With Dutt now expressing his intention to fulfil Gupta’s dream of making Kaante 2, the actor’s tribute has brought renewed attention to their friendship and their shared cinematic journey.
