Randeep Hooda shared behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Matchbox The Movie, which stars John Cena. Randeep reunited with director Sam Hargrave, who also directed him in Extraction. Randeep wrote, "Matchbox was a great excuse to catch up and hang out with my friends from the Extraction team."
While Randeep Hooda has a small role in the new Apple TV film Matchbox The Movie starring John Cena, the actor had a blast meeting up some old friends again. The Bollywood star starred in director Sam Hargrave's directorial debut, Extraction (2020), and the filmmaker brought back Randeep and Golshifteh Farahani to star in his latest. Randeep was accompanied on the Matchbox set by his wife, actress Lin Laishram, and he posted some happy behind-the-scenes pictures hanging out with the cast and crew. He also shared a photo with the star of the film, as both were all smiles in between shooting some action sequences.
On Instagram, Randeep shared a photodump from Europe and wrote, "Matchbox was a great excuse to catch up and hang out with my friends from the Extraction team and just make new memories .. and we got to play together a little all over again .. play it again Sam. #MatchboxTheMovie." He also posted a picture of him holding up his character's name, Mustafa, outside of the shooting location. In several pics, wife Lin was part of the happy reunion with Hargrave and other crew members. Randeep and Lin's first child, a baby girl named Nyomica, was born on March 10, 2026.
In Matchbox, the actor plays the right-hand man to Golshifteh Farahani's arms dealer Robbie. They both are approached by Cena's agent, Sean Walker, to find a missing nuclear warhead. When other mercenaries are on the case, both factions bring out the guns to hunt down the weapon. He and Golshifteh had supporting but memorable roles, as Hargrave brought them back after working with them on Extraction.
Randeep recently won his first National Film Award for Best Debut Director at the 72nd National Film Awards for his biographical drama Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, in which he also played the lead role. Besides his new film Matchbox, the actor is working on Laxman Utekar's next Eetha starring Shraddha Kapoor. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Anant Joshi, and Siddharth Jadhav are also part of the film.
The actor told Zoom that he had earlier said no to Laxman's blockbuster film Chhava. He revealed, "I was going through an IP court case and I had so much Hindu-Muslim thing going on in the whole narrative, and I just did not want to go down that street. So after that when this movie [Eetha] came on board, I liked it."
