Ranabaali Faces No Cuts By CBFC - Know Runtime, Rating

According to reports, Ranabaali has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) without any cuts. This comes at a time when films often face scrutiny over their scenes and dialogues.

Reportedly, the Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer has received a U/A certificate from the CBFC.

The film's runtime is 2 hours and 50 minutes, as revealed by Vijay earlier.

Ahead of the film's release, Vijay and Rashmika visited the Tirupati temple to seek Lord Venkateswara's blessings. Their film is set to clash with Rajinikanth's highly anticipated Jailer 2 at the box office.

What Is Ranabaali About?

Ranabaali is a period action drama set in 1870s British-ruled South India, against the backdrop of the Great Madras Famine of 1876-1878. The film explores colonial exploitation, widespread starvation and the resistance of people fighting for their survival and dignity.

Vijay plays Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali, a fearless horseman and fighter from the fictional village of Singanamala in the Rayalaseema region. Meanwhile, Rashmika portrays Jayamma, his wife who stands by him through the hardships and struggles of the period.

The story's central conflict revolves around Sir Theodore Hector, played by Arnold Vosloo, a ruthless British colonial official who enforces harsh grain export policies and inadequate famine relief. As failed monsoons, exploitative taxation and food shortages devastate local communities, Ranabaali rises against British rule. He leads a resistance against colonial forces, taking on those hoarding grain and fighting to protect his people.

While the film draws inspiration from the historical circumstances of the Great Madras Famine and the exploitative policies of the British administration, it is not a conventional biographical drama. Instead, it presents a fictionalised period epic.

Ranabaali marks Vijay and Rashmika's third collaboration after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. It is set to release in theatres on October 16, 2026.
