Godzilla Minus Zero will release two weeks later in India to avoid a box office clash with the film Ramayana. The Japanese movie was originally set for November 6. Makers moved the date to get better access to premium large screens, which many expect the epic Ramayana to occupy.

Godzilla Minus Zero has reportedly been postponed by two weeks in India to avoid a box office clash with Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's Ramayana. The Japanese film was originally scheduled to release on November 6.

The much-anticipated box office clash between Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's Ramayana and Japan's Godzilla Minus Zero has reportedly been averted in India. The Japanese monster film, which was scheduled to release in Indian cinemas on November 6, is now expected to arrive two weeks later. The move is aimed at securing better access to premium large format screens, including IMAX, which are expected to be in high demand for the Indian mythological epic.

Godzilla Minus Zero Postponed By Two Weeks

According to a report by Variety India, the Indian distributors of Godzilla Minus Zero have decided to postpone the film's release by two weeks to improve its commercial prospects. The Japanese film was initially scheduled to arrive in India on November 6, a day after Ramayana. However, the makers anticipate that the Indian epic will occupy most of the available premium format screens during its opening period.

The report added that Godzilla Minus Zero could have been left with only one show at several premium format properties if it had released as planned. Since the film has been made for a large screen experience, limited access to IMAX could have affected its theatrical performance in India.

However, the revised Indian release date has not been officially announced by the distributor.

Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, Godzilla Minus Zero is the sequel to the 2023 film Godzilla Minus One, which won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. The upcoming instalment features returning cast members Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Yuki Yamada, Kuranosuke Sasaki, and Sakura Ando, along with new additions to the franchise.

Ramayana Set To Arrive On November 5

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is scheduled to release in theatres on November 5. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The ensemble cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, alongside Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Rakul Preet Singh, and Kunal Kapoor in key roles.

Produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios in association with Monster Mind Creations, the film is planned as the first instalment of a two-part cinematic adaptation of the Ramayana. With its scale and visual effects expected to be a major part of the theatrical experience, the makers are aiming for a wide release across IMAX.

Not just this, Ramayana is expected to secure the widest ever release for an Indian film both domestically as well as overseas.
