Mahesh Bhatt watched the film Ramayana at a Mumbai theatre and got emotional. He said, "I tried hard not to cry." The veteran filmmaker praised Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi for their performances. He felt proud of the team and the hard work behind this big Indian cinema project.
Ramayana has left many viewers impressed and emotional. Social media is currently flooded with positive reviews of the Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi starrer. Now, veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt's review has surfaced online. Ranbir's father-in-law recently watched the film at a theatre along with the audience. He revealed that he wanted to experience the film with the public and decided to visit Oberoi Mall in Mumbai with his filmmaker and writer friends. The film left him deeply moved, and he could not stop himself from tearing up.
In an interview with Variety India, Mahesh Bhatt revealed that he recently watched Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana at a Mumbai theatre. He shared, "I tried hard not to cry. I had gone with young filmmakers and writers, and people in the hall knew they were sitting with Ranbir Kapoor's father-in-law. When the lights came on, I tried to hide my tears. I couldn't. Nor could I say much. Great experiences make you silent."
He added, "Yash mesmerised me as Ravan. Nitesh Tiwari reins in all that power; it could so easily have become too much. I was still under its spell when Ranbir entered, and the film did not immediately rise for me with his arrival. Then he walked towards the camera and folded his hands. I saw him touch something in himself that his other films had never asked him to touch."
Bhatt also praised Sai Pallavi's portrayal of Sita, saying it brought him immense relief. He said that actresses were often expected to dazzle and command attention as soon as they appeared on screen, but Sai dared to remain natural and understated. He added that he was deeply moved by Ramayana and congratulated filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, producer Namit Malhotra, the writers, composers, actors and the entire team. He also praised the visuals, music and hard work behind the project, saying it made him proud of Indian cinema.
Recently, wife Alia Bhatt also expressed her pride. Sharing pictures of Raha and Ranbir from the sets of Ramayana, she wrote, "You poured everything into this one and somehow still had all of it left for her. So proud of you Ranbir and of every single person who brought their heart and soul to this incredible experience at the movies. Some stories are bigger than all of us & Ramayana is one of them."
