Ramayana Part 1, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash in the lead roles, is all set to release in theatres on November 5, 2026. The magnum opus has been creating a solid buzz among the masses since its announcement. AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer jointly composed the music of the Nitesh Tiwari-directed film. The Mangal Rang song from the Ramayana received mixed reviews from the masses. A section of people on social media criticised AR Rahman's music for the song, which features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita. Singer Armaan Malik, who has sung its Kannada version, Mangala Sangama, has now come out in support of AR Rahman and Ramayana makers and said that the interpretation of music is subjective.

Armaan Malik Defends Ramayana Composer AR Rahman

In an interview with News18, Armaan Malik spoke about the criticism against the song, Mangal Rang, which is sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal in Hindi. Armaan sang the Kannada version of the same, titled Mangala Sangama, alongside Bela Shende. Mangal Rang shows a dreamy wedding sequence of Lord Rama and Sita.

While speaking about the criticism, "The entire music team was completely united in one single goal - ensure the sonic experience reflected the pure love and divinity portrayed onscreen by Ranbir (Kapoor) and Sai Pallavi. How a listener interprets the music is always going to be subjective, and that's the nature of art. But as an artist, my only focus was the deep devotion of the moment and ensuring we delivered that with the utmost respect."

Apart from that, Armaan Malik also feels blessed to lend his voice to a song featuring Ranbir Kapoor. Earlier, he had expressed his desire to sing for actors like Ranbir and Shah Rukh Khan. Since he has fulfilled his one wish by singing for Ranbir Kapoor, the singer said, "It's a huge personal milestone. We all grow up watching certain icons define cinematic romance and emotion, and Ranbir has undoubtedly been that figure for my generation. What makes the achievement even more special is the journey behind it."
