Rajinikanth’s film Jailer 2 earned Rs 541 crore worldwide by its sixth day. The movie beat Ponniyin Selvan 2 to become the fifth highest-grossing Tamil film. Rajinikanth’s star power continues to translate into massive box office numbers with Jailer 2! The Nelson Dilipkumar directorial has delivered a solid first six days in theatres, taking its worldwide gross to Rs 541 crore and surpassing Ponniyin Selvan 2 in the global Tamil cinema rankings. The film has now surpassed the worldwide lifetime collection of Ponniyin Selvan 2, directed by Mani Ratnam, to solidify its position among the highest-grossing Tamil films of all time. It also beat the collections of recently released films. Here's how much the film earned on the sixth day.
Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 earns top spot, collecting Rs 45.55 crore in India on its sixth day. According to Sacnilk, Tuesday’s collection marked a 7.6 percent increase from Monday’s Rs 42.35 crore. The film’s worldwide gross has now reached Rs 541 crore, comprising Rs 337 crore from India and Rs 204 crore from overseas markets.
The film is lagging behind the collections of Coolie, Leo, Jailer and 2.0 in the all-time rankings. Additionally, it has overtaken the lifetime India net collections of Ram Charan’s Peddi, which earned Rs 244.64 crore, and Yash’s Toxic, which collected Rs 250.13 crore.
The action entertainer opened with Rs 59.70 crore in India on October 15. It collected Rs 37.10 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 47.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 55.85 crore on Sunday. Monday’s collection stood at Rs 42.35 crore before the film registered an improvement on Tuesday.
Tamil screenings recorded 70 percent occupancy on Tuesday, followed by Telugu at 59.3 percent, Kannada at 52 percent and Hindi at 26 percent. The Tamil 2D version registered an overall occupancy of 73.46 percent.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 is the sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2023 blockbuster Jailer. The superstar reprises his role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vidya Balan and Mithun Chakraborty among the cast members. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music.
