Radhika Apte slams South film industry

In an interview with News18, Radhika said, "I could be wrong but in my perception, North Indian actresses were cast down south because they were fairer. I'm not fair. I wonder, why they wouldn't cast South Indian actresses in South Indian films and get north Indian actresses instead."

Similarly, the actress said the Hindi film industry has a tendency of casting foreigners. "Women down south are absolutely beautiful, talented and amazing, who know the language really well. They're excellent performers," she added.

That said, Radhika believes South actresses should get cast in films down South rather than people from Mumbai who can't speak a word in the other language and get their voices dubbed. The actress admitted that she wasn't in favour of all that. However, the actress would still considering returning to the indutsry on one condition, but language would still be a barrier for her.

"If there's a part that has to be performed by a particular actress because of a certain reason, then I understand," she added. At one point, Radhika thought language wouldn't be a barrier and that she could perform in any language. She recalled doing films across seven languages. Having said that, the actress stated that if one forgets their lines and wants to do something of the situation, they need to know the langauge first.
