Aamir Khan was the main target of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, not Tiger Shroff. Assailants did a recce of Aamir’s home in September after he received threats in July over his third marriage. A police officer said, "The shooters had been told to target Aamir Khan." They later shifted to Tiger.
Tiger Shroff has reportedly not recorded his statement with the Mumbai Crime Branch yet. It has now been revealed that Aamir Khan was the main target, allegedly due to his third marriage.
It's been a week since the fatal attack on Tiger Shroff. The actor, due to his presence of mind, narrowly escaped from it. As per the latest development in the ongoing Mumbai Crime Branch investigation, Aamir Khan was the main target. Reportedly, the minor assailant and Rehan arrived in Mumbai in September and did a recce of the actor's residence at least three times. While Salman Khan has been on top of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang's hit list, his security ring has protected him from the attack. A portal's report said that though Aamir was an easier target, he was mostly away for shoots and did not step out of the house for days when in the city.
Aamir Khan was main target, Tiger Shroff more accessible
According to The Indian Express, due to Khan's unavailability, the focus shifted to Tiger, who, as per police sources, was more 'accessible' to the assailants. The report stated that the police suspected a connection to the threats received by Aamir in July, allegedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
A police officer told the portal, "The shooters had been told to target Aamir Khan. While the shooters claimed to not know the motive, we suspect it is in line with the threat issued earlier this year."
Assailants recce Aamir Khan's residence
Police sources further informed that after conducting a recce for a few days in September and meeting with no success, the shooters got in touch with Anil Pandit towards September-end, and a decision was taken to pivot the mission to Tiger. The assailants, who were staying closer to Aamir's residence, moved closer to Pushpa Narsee Park, where Shroff played football on Sundays.
Why was Aamir Khan on the Bishnoi gang's hit list?
Aamir received a threat through a Facebook post in July from Lawrence Bishnoi gang members Aarzoo Bishnoi and Tyson Bishnoi. The reason was his third marriage. Accusing the actor of 'love jihad' for marrying Gauri Spratt, the Bishnoi gang threatened to cause harm to him. While Aamir and the Khan family have not filed an official complaint, the Mumbai police initiated an investigation based on the viral post. Khan reportedly received a threatening audio message. After a forensic investigation, the Punjab Police confirmed that it was sent by Aarzoo.
The alleged Facebook post read, "Main Arzoo Bishnoi aur Tyson Bishnoi (Lawrence Bishnoi Group). Hamari sanskriti ke khilaaf hamare desh mein love jihad ke naam par Aamir Khan jaise log is cheez ko badhava de rahe hain. Hum ise bardaasht nahi karenge aur iska jawab bahut jald diya jayega. Yeh hamare Sanatan Dharma aur desh ke khilaaf hai."
Following this, Aamir told in an interview with Rediff that Gauri is not a Hindu and she did not convert to Islam to marry him. He explained that his family is secular and has people practising multiple religions harmoniously. "Both my sisters are married to Hindus; my daughter is also married to a Hindu. My cousin Mansoor is married to a Christian," he said.
Aamir has not commented on this matter yet.
