Nazriya Nazim shared new pictures on Tuesday from a promotional event for her film Scene in Dubai. The actor faced online criticism over her outfit, but many fans and co-stars defended her. Naslen showed support for her post. Nazriya said she was happy to return to Tamil cinema, calling it home.

Nazriya Nazim has shared new pictures of herself in the green off-the-shoulder outfit she wore at a promotional event for her upcoming film Scene in Dubai. Her appearance alongside co-stars Suriya and Naslen and director Jithu Madhavan has got some sections of internet users talking about her on social media, with the actor facing derogatory comments about her dressing style and appearance. While some users have criticised her look, others have defended her right to make personal choices and called out body shaming. Amid the scrutiny, Nazriya’s latest post has received support from her Scene team, with Naslen and Jithu Madhavan expressing their affection for the actor.

Nazriya shared the pictures on Tuesday, wearing the same outfit that got attention at the Dubai promotional event. Naslen responded to the post with a fire emoji, while director Jithu Madhavan also left a comment expressing his affection for the actor.

Ahead of this, viral pictures shared by fan accounts on social media got varied responses. One user described her appearance as a bold new look and an unexpected transformation. Another called it an “unbelievable transformation”. However, some users expressed disappointment with her glamorous styling, with one commenter saying they had previously respected her because she did not appear overly glamorous.

The criticism is not an isolated incident. Nazriya has also faced comments about her age and appearance following a recent public appearance where she was seen reacting candidly behind Suriya. While some users labelled her expressions “cringe”, others defended her and called out the body shaming.

Scene marks Nazriya’s first acting collaboration with Suriya, Naslen and Jithu Madhavan. It also brings her back to Tamil cinema after 12 years. Her last Tamil film was Thirumanam Enum Nikkah, released in 2014. Although her 2022 Telugu film Ante Sundaraniki was also released in Tamil in a dubbed version titled Adade Sundara, Scene marks her return to a Tamil-language film.

Speaking about the comeback, Nazriya said she was happy to return to Tamil cinema, describing it as coming “back home”. She also thanked Jithu Madhavan for trusting her with the role and expressed gratitude to Suriya and Naslen.

Produced by Suriya and Jyotika under Zhagaram Studios and 2D Entertainment, Scene is scheduled to release in theatres on November 6. The cast also includes Lal, Anandraj and Rajpriyan, who makes his acting debut with the film. Sushin Shyam is composing the music, with Vineeth Augustian as cinematographer and Ajmal Sabu as editor. Netflix has acquired the film’s streaming rights.
