Maatrubhumi is based on the lives of Indian soldiers, focusing on what they go through while serving the country and what their families experience back home. Salman plays an army officer in the film.

But Salman was quick to dismiss them. Calling the reports “bakwas", the actor said that the film is about soldiers and their families, and there is no hidden agenda behind it.
