A viral Instagram reel claims Kareena Kapoor’s films share a quirky pattern of hidden truths, leaving Bollywood fans amused and sparking hilarious reactions online
A quirky Bollywood observation has caught the internet’s attention, with an Instagram user claiming that several films featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan have one unusual element in common: characters hiding their real identities.
The observation was shared by Instagram user karan_mir, who regularly posts movie reviews and detailed Bollywood analysis through his reels. In his latest viral video, Karan Mirchandani highlighted what he believes is a recurring pattern in Kareena Kapoor’s filmography, connecting several popular movies through their characters’ hidden identities and secret motives.
In the reel, Mirchandani begins by claiming, “In every Kareena Kapoor film, someone has a secret identity. Lying to Shahid because her scammer boyfriend and her need to get out of trouble. Hrithik is not boss Prem, he is employee Prem."
He then moves on to other examples, suggesting that the characters in these films are rarely who they initially appear to be. Referring to another storyline, he says, “Hrithik is lying about being paying guest. He is actually Shahrukh Khan’s brother. Kareena is lying about being ghost."
Continuing his analysis, Mirchandani points to another film in which Kareena’s character claims to be taking French lessons but allegedly has a different motive altogether. “Kareena is lying about taking French lessons. She actually wants to scam people out of their money. Saif is lying about being only a professor."
He adds a dramatic twist to the theory by saying, “He’s also a terrorist. Akshay Kumar and Bipasha Basu are lying about being married. They want to scam Bobby Deol and Kareena Kapoor."
The reel continues with more examples of characters concealing their identities, including one involving Salman Khan and a series of love letters. Mirchandani claims, “Kareena Kapoor is lying about not being into Salman Khan and not being the person that’s sending him love letters. Rani Mukherjee is lying about being Kareena Kapoor and is the one that is sending Hrithik love letters or emails."
Taking the theory to an even more absurd level, he concludes, “Kareena Kapoor is actually Arjun Rampal who is… Yeah, you get it."
The creator captioned the post, “Kareena Kapoor secret identity cinematic universe." The exaggerated connections between characters and storylines appeared to strike a chord with viewers, many of whom joined the discussion with their own observations about Bollywood’s fondness for secrets, disguises and plot twists.
One user pointed out that the trope was hardly limited to Kareena Kapoor’s movies, writing, “In her defense, there’s someone lying in all Bollywood movies brother," while another responded with a Harry Potter reference, saying, “What in the Harry Potter is this".
A third user offered a more analytical take on the theory, commenting, “Perhaps lying/secret personna is an underlying condition in Hindi cinema , that keeps the audience rivetted?" Another viewer appreciated the content, writing, “The Internet content I signed up for," reflecting the amusement the reel generated.
One comment also highlighted several other Bollywood films where characters conceal their identities or pretend to be someone else. The user wrote, “Love this. It’s actually bizarre – Asoka SRK pretends to be Pawan. Jab we met Shahid hides his identity from her first and then to her family. Aitraaz Akshay Kumar pretends to be a barrister. 3 idiots Phunsukh pretends to be Rancho".
