Veteran actor Kamal Haasan celebrated his 72nd birthday on Saturday, November 7, with heartfelt wishes pouring in from family, friends and members of the film industry. His daughters, Shruti Haasan and Aksharaa Haasan, made the occasion special with emotional social media posts celebrating their father. While Shruti described him as a "glorious uncut diamond" whose passion for cinema remains untouched by time, Aksharaa shared a goofy picture and called him a father, friend and inspiration. The birthday celebrations also brought attention to Kamal's upcoming film Sandiyar, whose title and new stills were unveiled by his production house.

Shruti Haasan took to Instagram to share a black-and-white photograph with her father and penned a touching birthday message. She began by wishing him on his special day, adding that she would not usually write at length about why she loves him, although she admitted that she has not always followed his advice.

Shruti also recalled speaking to Kamal early in the morning to wish him. Their conversation soon turned to cinema, with the veteran actor recommending a film he had recently watched and explaining what he loved about it. Reflecting on his enduring passion for filmmaking, Shruti wrote, "Years and years in your favourite playground of cinema haven't jaded, not even a little bit the love and with which you live this magical life and the gifts you give us through your craft."

She further remembered the young Kamal Haasan, who had stepped into the world of cinema as a child artist. Praising the curiosity and enthusiasm he continues to bring to his work, she wrote, "The heart of the little boy who looked up at his first bright light on his very first movie set is vibrant, alive and always searching for more."

Shruti concluded, "You are just the rarest of the rare Appa, the most glorious uncut diamond sparkling in the way only you can. Love you to the moon and back."

Kamal's younger daughter, Aksharaa Haasan, also shared a birthday wish for her father. Posting a goofy photograph of the two together, she highlighted the special bond they share and celebrated the many roles he has played in her life. "Anyone can be a father but not everyone has the ability to be a dad, friend and inspiration. Happiest birthday dearest Bapuji," she wrote.
