Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is continuing its successful run in theatres, with audiences showing up even as the film enters its second week. The sequel has managed to keep the box office buzzing after a strong opening and a successful first week. With the weekend bringing another boost, the film is now getting closer to an important box office milestone.
Released on October 15, Jailer 2 opened to a strong response, collecting ₹59.70 crore net in India on its first day. The film was screened across 15,887 shows. The film also benefited from the Dussehra holidays, which helped its collections during the opening week. However, business slowed down on Wednesday and Thursday as the film witnessed significant drops. Despite this, Jailer 2 wrapped up its first week with an impressive ₹334.35 crore at the domestic box office.
The film has continued to attract moviegoers during its second weekend. According to the latest figures shared by Sacnilk, the Rajinikanth-starrer collected ₹22.32 crore on Sunday. While the number was slightly lower than Saturday’s collection of ₹25.70 crore, the film maintained a strong pace in its second week.
With Sunday’s earnings added to its total, Jailer 2 has collected ₹398.70 crore at the domestic box office in 11 days. The film is now just a little over ₹1 crore away from crossing the ₹400 crore mark.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 continues the story of Muthu, played by Rajinikanth. The story begins after the events of the first film. Muthu had killed Varman (Vinayakan), but before his death, he was warned that a group of idol smugglers would come after him. Dileep (Suraj Venjaramoodu) wants to find out who is trying to disturb his smuggling business. Meanwhile, Muthu’s family still doesn’t know that he killed his own son Arjun (Vasanth Ravi) to protect them. Muthu is now trying to live a normal life and works as a supermarket supervisor. But his past soon catches up with him, and new problems begin.
